Hours of instruction:

Goals:

Acquiring the knowledge necessary for understanding facts, principles and theories for intensive study of chemical disciplines within the other courses in the subsequent years of studies and developing the ability to solve quantitative chemical problems.

Outcome:

Consolidated and balanced knowledge of general chemistry and ability to understand the material covered in subsequent chemistry courses.

Syllabus:

Practical classes are organized in the winter semester according to the schedule. The syllabus of practical classes corresponds to the syllabus of the lectures. Students have to attend practical classes.

Remarks:

  • The first progress test is organized once a year, in the 8th week of the winter semester, and it covers the material introduced from the beginning of the semester. The maximum number of points in the first progress test is 10, while the minimum number of points is 0.
  • The second progress test is organized once a year, in the 15th week of the winter semester, and it includes the material covered after the first progress test. The maximum number of points in the second progress test is 10, and the minimum number of points is 0.

Written exam:

70 points

Remarks:

The written exam is organized in every examination period. In order to have the right to take the written exam, a student has to have more than 15 points assigned for pre-exam activities. The other requirement is successfully passed calculation test. A student has passed the written exam if he has scored more than 50% of the points.
