Two micro/nanoplastics related calls

Two micro/nanoplastics-related calls have recently published by the JRC (European Commission’s Joint Research Centre) which might interest you. Please see below some information, and the links to the calls themselves:

We want to inform you on our new call for project proposals to access the EC JRC Nanobiotechnology Laboratory.

It is our fifth relevance-driven call since the 2017 launch of the JRC initiative, offering access to researchers and scientists from EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated countries.

What is new?

In this call:

  • the access costs are waived
  • the JRC covers travel and subsistence costs for users from institutions located in countries eligible for the Horizon Europe Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation Action
  • priority topics are:
    – Detection of micro(nano)plastics in media contributing to human exposure (such as food, drinking water and air)
    – Characterisation of nanotechnology and biotechnology based-health-products (including nanomedicines, nano-vaccines, antibodies and bio-macromolecules) with applications for the detection, treatment, diagnostics of non-communicable diseases and pathogens.

Candidate users can contact us at JRC-OPEN-NANOBIOTECH@ec.europa.eu to assess feasibility aspects about their project proposals, before the submission.

Deadline for applications is 1. April 2023. For further information, please refer to the call.

We recently launched also a call for Training and Capacity Building to enable researchers to learn using JRC facilities for their future experiments.

We offer hands-on training on:

  • detection and characterisation of micro(nano)plastics in media contributing to human exposure
  • detection and characterisation of nanomaterials in complex matrices (e.g. food) and their interactions with biological systems
  • characterisation of nanotechnology and biotechnology based health products.

In this case the deadline for applications is 30. April 2023.

For further information, please refer to the specific call on Training and capacity Building.
