Focal point of Flavescence dorée in Serbia

Niš – surrounding of village Vrelo

Identification of new focal point in region of town Niš (Kuzmanović et al., 2004), indicates possible wider dispersal of Flavescence dorée (FD) in Serbia. There are objective indications that FD was introduced in new focal region (area around village Vrelo) with infected planting material. Assasement of damage and distribution of phytoplasma in new region is in process. Identification of new focal point of FD dramatically changes phytosanitary situation in Serbia, with possible wider dispersal of FD with infected planting material to other, more distant regions, out of focal points. Down the valey of river West Morava between towns Kruševac and Stalać, high percent of planting material with symptoms of phytoplasmatic infection was registered. Numerous infected plants in propagation material indicate that reproductive material used in production of grafts was previously infected with phytoplasma.
