Weekly: five hours of lectures + three hours of study research work

Goals:

The student identifies problems in domain of chemistry education, prepares the project, conducts research and presents the results in the form of article and oral presentation.

Outcome:

  • The student formulates the subject and purpose of the research, and research questions / hypotheses.
  • The student plans the research methodology and instruments according to research questions / hypotheses.
  • The student collects data, processes them statistically and interprets the obtained results, formulates conclusions, the research limitations, and the implications for education in the field of chemistry.

  • Classification of educational researches.
  • The selection of research problems (scientific and pedagogical relevance).
  • Research questions/hypotheses.
  • The selection of research methods.
  • The sample on which research is conducted (selection and validity).
  • Instruments of research (design, validity, reliability, methods of data collection, processing of data).
  • Statistical methods in educational research (type, reliability, error).
  • The interpretation of the obtained data.
  • Drawing conclusions based on data from the research.
  • Ways of communication of research results (writing reports and communication of key findings).
  • Ethical questions related to educational research.
  • Criteria for evaluating research projects.
