Goals: |
The goal of this course is to help students acquire theoretical knowledge of the structure and reactivity of organosulfur and organophosphorus compounds and heterocyclic organic compounds. |
Outcome: |
Upon successfully completing this course the student will be able to:
- understand the basic principles of binding of sulfur, phosphorus and nitrogen atoms in organic molecules;
- understand physical and structural properties of sulfur and phosphorus compounds and heterocyclic organic compounds;
- understand the nomenclature of organosulfur and organophosphorus compounds;
- understand the nomenclature of heterocyclic organic compounds;
- understand the typical functional group transformations, their scope and limitations.
