StarBoard Software 9.32 for Windows

Please read this document before installation.

Installation Notes

  1. Administrator privileges
You will need administrator privileges to install the StarBoard Software. Do not use the “install program as another user” feature even if that user has administrative privileges. Also, do not use the “Run As” feature on Windows XP.
Do not use elevation of privilege on Windows Vista/Windows 7 if StarBoard Software 8.0/B or earlier is installed.

  2. If the software seems to have frozen
If the installation or uninstallation process freezes, please minimize the window and determine whether any dialog boxes for other applications are open. If so, please close them and restore the window you have minimized.

  3. P series support
    Windows XP:
The setup application will install a USB driver. During this installation a dialog may show “Digital Signature Not Found”, “Software is not certified by Windows logo test”. Please choose to continue with the installation.
    Windows Vista/Windows 7:
To install a P series driver, see the following document.
    <Install_Media>\StarBoardSoftware\setupdir\en\P-DrvInstallationManual.pdf

  4. Tablet driver conflicts
When installing support for StarBoard T series tablets, remove all tablet drivers other than StarBoard first.
If the tablet driver fails to install, disconnect the tablet from the PC and install the driver again.

  5. yar file association
The installation associates the .yar extension of the file type of “StarBoard Software” with the default action of Open with Launcher.exe.
If the installation fails to make this association you can install the software again or set up the association manually through Windows Explorer - Folder Options - file types in the standard manner.

  6. When installation fails to detect P
    - Right-click the .inf file in the setupdir\Common\USBSerDrv folder and setupdir\Common\USBSerDrv2 folder on the install DVD and select Install.
    - Uninstall StarBoard Software.
    - Install StarBoard Software.

  7. Installation from network folder
The recommended installation procedure is from DVD. If you attempt an installation from a networked folder, the installation may fail if the network path is too deep or too long.

  8. Reinstall on Windows Vista/Windows 7
    - Do not use “Reinstall using recommended settings” if you cancel installation.

  9. Install/Uninstall
Do not install/uninstall StarBoard Software while the program is running. Please exit StarBoard Software before installation/uninstallation.

  10. Restart installation on Windows Vista/Windows 7
Installation may not restart automatically on Windows Vista/Windows 7. If this occurs, please launch setup again.

  11. Upgrade installation from StarBoard Software 9.3
When upgrading from StarBoard Software 9.3, an error dialog that says "msiexec.exe encountered a problem and needed to close." may be displayed.
This does not affect the installation process.
Please close it by "Don't Send" button.
